I’m not one to normally make new years resolutions, but this year we decided to make some changes. We both want to lose some weight, and we want to get out and do more things this year. Towards those goals, we went on an eight mile (round trip) hike yesterday out to Arch Rock, at Point Reyes. We took the Bear Valley Trail (map).
It ended up being a wonderful day to go. We’ve had a lot of rain lately, and there was a threat of rain yesterday. As a result, the park was very lush and green, and had a lot of running water. I think it also helped keep the crowds down, as it was a bit muddy. There are more pictures after the jump
If you are looking for a place to go hiking and live in The Bay Area, I highly recommend Point Reyes. It’s only about 1.5 hours north of The City.

The very first thing we did as we drove into Phoenix on our recent trip, was stop at Rosita’s… a Mexican food restaurant in Tempe. They have THE BEST tacos and hot sauce around.
I’ve been going to Rosita’s since the 4th grade. I haven’t found a good replacement here in San Francisco, so I try to go at least once whenever I’m back in Tempe.
If you live in the area, I highly recommend checking them out. They’re on University and Hardy. They have many good dishes, but if you go, you need to have a Taco… they are the best.

After almost 2 weeks in Phoenix / Bisbee, we are back home. It seems like we have been gone a long time. It’s good to be home. The trip was really fun, but I wouldn’t exactly call it relaxing. I feel like I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.
I had planned to do some blogging while we were away, but it didn’t really work out that way. I’ll be catching up today (or tonight). I hope everyone had a great holiday.

Tomorrow morning we are off to Phoenix for a much needed vacation. We’ll stay with Friends in Phoenix through December 30th, and then we all go down to Bisbee, AZ for New Years. We’ll be staying at The Shady Dell. It looks like a great place. I’ll post pictues when I get back.
Happy Holidays!

With everything that has happened recently, we felt like taking a little break, and getting out of town. We took Friday off and went down to Phoenix for the weekend.
It was great being able to hang out with friends, and visit some of my old haunts. It was a nice, relaxing trip. I’m glad we went.
On the flight out, I caught up on some of my video blogs, or video podcasts as Apple would have you call them. It was so nice being able to watch video on my iPod, rather than lugging a laptop down there.
What do you think of my iPod stand? It actually worked really well. I think I’ll grab a bunch of cups on my next flight… I’ll call them iCups, and sell them for $29.95 a pop.

Do you like reading about other people’s travel adventures? Well here’s a site for you… it’s called Traveling Pixels.
The site was recently created as a travel-log for our good friends, Todd and Stephanie. Their first trip was a 14 day, 93 mile backpacking trip in Washington State. Along with two other friends, Erik, and Kim, they hiked the Wonderland Trail through the Mount Rainier National Park.
Two days after returning from Wonderland, they flew off to Europe. I think they’ll be wandering around over there for the next six weeks or so. After that… who knows what’s next. Those lucky ducks!

Those three things didn’t happen all at once, but they were definitely the hi-lights of this weekends trip to Yosemite.

I have a ton of pictures from our recent trip to Chicago and Wisconsin that I finally started to go through. This is Crown Fountain in Millennium Park, Chicago. It was created by Spanish sculptor, Jaume Plensa.
The fountain has a video projection system that displays several different faces. Every 12 minutes the face puckers up and spits out a stream of water. It was really Great to watch!
I shot the beginning and end of the cycle using rapid-fire mode on my camera. I’ve put them together in sequence, in a short QuickTime movie.
