Deleted Star Wars Scene

I just came across a deleted scene from the original Star Wars. In the scene, Luke says goodbye to his best friend, ‘Biggs’. It was cool to watch, but I can see why the scene was deleted.
Neither Biggs, nor Luke’s spiffy hat made it in to the final movie.

thanks, paul! very cool. why do you think they would have introduced biggs like this, anyway? i can totally see why it was deleted. in fact, i think you have to go and watch the star wars movies a few times to notice the importance of biggs. but then again, we all have done that, so there ya go.
i think it would have been far more fun (and far more expensive) to have had a flashback scene where he and biggs are shooting wombats in beggar’s canyon (or whatever the line was when told about the death star’s target in the narrow shaft).
