The Notorious Bettie Page

Friday night we went and saw The Notorious Bettie Page. I was really looking forward to this movie. I’m a big fan of 40’s and 50’s pin-up art. I also like movies set in that time period.
Unfortunately, the movie isn’t very good. I can only give it 2 stars. Keep in mind that I generally give 1 star just for making a movie.
The story just wasn’t told very well. I thought it was a very superficial look at the classic pin-up model. Basically, the movie is just one photo shoot after another. Whenever they start to get into any detail about her, they quickly move on to the next scene. I thought the story was very disjointed, and glossed over way too much of her life.
As I mentioned, I generally give 1 star just for the effort of making a movie. In this case the second star was for the subject matter, and getting to see Gretchen Mol (Bettie Page), naked. Beyond that, there isn’t much more to say about this film.
