Writing Email… The Microsoft Way.

Here’s a screen-shot of what all you PC users can (unfortunately) look forward to in the next version of Outlook. It’s possible Microsoft is having a competition to see how many buttons they can display on any given window. Could they have made something as simple as email look any more complicated (or ugly)?
Looking at things like this, I am reminded of that famous Steve Jobs quote…
“The only thing wrong with Microsoft is that they have no taste. I don’t mean that in a small way, I mean that in a big way.”
Oh, and what’s that at the top of the window…? Kind of looks like brushed metal, with some sort of gel button… hmmm, never seen that before.

It’s amazing… even when blatantly stealing an interface design element, they somehow still manage to screw it up.
