“Evil twin” WiFi hotspots try to fool users. Yeah.:
“It seems like we can’t go more than a month without another WiFi hysteria news item cropping up. The latest thing security consultants are out to scare you about are ‘Evil Twin’ WiFi hotspots that pose as legitimate hotspots, but are actually unauthorized base stations that can potentially be used to intercept personal information. There’s nothing too complex involved in the scam, it works simply by sending a stronger signal to wireless clients, effectively jamming the legitimate base station.”
